Last year, mid 2009 many automobiles companies were offering discounts on various car models ranging from Rs 25,000 – Rs 50,000.

During down turn Car co. gave opportunity to the people to boost up spending and finish their inventory but now the times have changed. The demand and supply curve today is totally opposite of how it was in mid 2009. Car makers are getting advance booking as there is a long waiting list of people wanting them!

So the smartness lies to buy stuff during recession! Am I right ?

Just when all the Auto makers in India are making a killing with an insatiable demanding market, it is very surprising to see Fiat India in such huge losses over the last year.

According to the report, Fiat India is only using 15% of the installed capacity for its own production. I wonder for how long the company will be able to run in red. Especially when it is known to have given up on its products earlier.

This seems like a classic case for business strategy because there is nothing wrong with the Fiat cars. In fact, its engines are being used both by Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors both of which are breaking sales records. Punto, the hatchback from Fiat has already proved itself in Europe.

So what is it then?

One suggestion I can make is to have separate sales team for Fiat cars. Since it has a joint venture with Tata Motors the sales is also done jointly. Now I certainly smell something wrong when Tata is breaking sales records and Fiat sales is hitting new lows. So a simple suggestion is to have a separate sales team getting incentives only to sell Fiat cars.

Maruti has now dived into the so called nano race. Nano has created a new segment by itself under the lower A-segment of cars. Maruti’s superstar car 800 had dominated this segment till now until NANO came into being. Nano has done exceptionally well for Tata till now – Tata is now India’s second largest car manufacturer in terms of sales figures!!

Small car market was always Maruti’s terrain. Losing dominance in this segment meant peril for Maruti. And boy, Maruti has bounced back exceptionally. Just look at the official pictures of Cervo – they are OUTSTANDING. Initially looking at its pictures, I thought that this car will be placed in 4-5 Lakh price bracket. But was stunned to know the fact that it’ll be placed opposite to Nano and will be priced at around 1.5-2 Lakh rupees!!!

The car is said be launched by the end of this year. Maruti Suzuki Cervo will be a five-door hatchback and will sport a 600 cc engine. It is also touted to exert a power of mighty 60 bhp. Its sporty appearance with rear spoiler and curves around the body will create a special mass appeal. This entry level hatch will also pull out a torque of 64 nm.

Most of us on a long drive fear only one thing-ACCIDENT.What if we met with an accident??? What will happen to our family??? Who will take care of the???

Well then now no need to worry as there will be  automatic braking devices introduced by Nissan. Accordingly this technology will use cameras installed in cars and radar to detect pedestrians or cars ahead if stationery and will give the driver to stop the car. If not stopped by the driver the car will automatically break thus avoiding accidents.

Does this thing really works? Is it really possible to stop cars automatically? Well one may debate but the makers of the technology are claiming that they have used the existing systems such as parking sensors and blind spot warnings. This technology will be only put to test when it is on road because we all know how laboratory tests are done.

But the good part about this technology is that it will be available at a cheaper rate as this technology uses existing systems.

The first car with this technology will be sold in Australia by VOLVO followed by AUDI and than NISSAN. It is interesting to note that the makers are coming up with the technology in cars at no.3. One would think why…but it may be a business strategy…afterall what businessmen do is out of the understanding of common people.

Toyota is very soon going to come up with Etios a small car in December and its sales will begin by January 2011.

Toyota company has invested around 3200 crore for the production of this small car with initial capacity of almost 70,000 cars every year, adding to it that company has used its internal finance for investment.

It is said that the company will produce 65000-70000 cars in its first year  and its capacity can be extended to 2,00,000 cars per annum in 2 years.

The price of this car will cost more that Rs. 5 lakh. The company for its small car is  looking for auto parts suppliers.

Toyota is planning to exports its new car overall overseas markets in next two years. With an output of 73,000 cars per annum, the company is making full capacity of its existing plant. It is said that by next year it will rise up to 80,000.

Toyota is having a great name is the market and Innova has been its largest selling car with 48,000 units every year, followed by Atlis 13000 units, followed by Fortuner with 9,000 units.

Rolls-Royce has been a dream car for me! This car know for its luxury and its prestige (status) plans to sell 50 units in India this year in 2010.

“We are getting overwhelming response for the car in the country. It would take normally 2-3 months time for the delivery of the car after the firm order. We expect to sell 50 units this year,” Sharad Kachalia, director, sales and marketing, Navnit Motors, the authorised Rolls Royce dealer for West and South region, said. (Source)

Renault released a glimpse of its electric DeZir Gullwing Coupe, and it’s likely to give eco-minded gearheads yet another electric car to drool over.

With a top speed of 112 miles-per-hour, the DeZir is powered by a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor. The two-seater coupe comes with a kevlar body and tubular steel frame, and has a 100-mile range. It can be re-charged to 80 percent of capacity in 20 minutes. [Source]

The DeZir will debut in October at this year’s Paris Motor Show, but no date has been set for its full release. According to Fast Company, by the end of 2013 the Renault-Nissan alliance hopes to produce 500,000 electric vehicles globally, including the 2011 Fluence ZE and the 2011 Kangoo ZE electric van.

The brand power is what it speak! Yet to be launched Nissan Micra has received 1500 bookings in just 6 weeks since the bookings opened in India.

The company has 11 dealerships across India and aims to increase it to 100 by 2013 and will produce 80000 units of the Micra at its Chennai plant in this fiscal year 2010-11 for both the domestic and export markets.

The company is overwhelmed with the response that it received from the new buyers who have already know about the well known players in India like Maruti Suzuki, Ford and Chevrolet.

Nissan should price Micra at a very competitive price.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd said in a press release its domestic sales would surge while exports would go down due to sluggish market conditions in the Europe.

Domestic sales will increase to 57 per cent from 52 per cent in 2009.

The Company has launched mid-size sedan the new Verna Transform.

The company aimed to sell 6 lakh units taking up its marketshare to 20.7 per cent from 20.6 per cent in 2009, adding that the company will be launching its sports utility vehicle, Sante Fe this year imported from Korea.

Hyundai has also decided to phase out Getz looking at the growing demand for i20.
