Starbucks had strike’d a deal with Tata’s to enter in India somewhere in Jan this year!
India was one of the untapped markets for Starbucks, with this deal we have global coffee giant Starbucks in India now. They opened there first store in Mumbai on Friday.
I was suppose to visit it yesterday but was not able to do so because of some other priorities!
Hindustan Times has reported that Starbucks enters India with a price cut! It’s menu card starts from Rs 80/- price range..

According to the article there would be 50 Starbucks stores in India by the year end.
“We’ve been trying to in a sense crack the code here,” Schultz said. The company decided early on they needed to enter India with a local partner, as they did in China. Schultz said he spoke with many interested parties, but none “had the complete suite of things we felt were necessary to build a big, enduring business. That changed the day we met Tata.”
The two major competitors for Starbucks in India are CafeCoffeeDay and Barista.
