Counterfeit money has taken a toll in India and many other nations globally. According to RBI, a total of 4,35,607 fake currencies were detected in 2010-11, mostly in form of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 denominations.

A livemint report of 2011 states that four in every thousand currency notes in India are fake.

India’s National Investigation Agency / NIA estimates that over Rs.16,000 crore worth Fake Indian Currency is in circulation. Price of a fake Rs 100 Indian note in Pakistan varies between Rs 26 and 30. (source)

For this RBI recently launched a website “PaisaBoltaHai” which explains how you can detect fake currency notes. This is an excellent initiative which would help people to stay alert and detect a fake note before they take it from some one.

This website helps you to detect fake currency notes of Rs 10, Rs 20, Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 500 & Rs 1000 denominations.

RBI has also launched a TVC in 11 different languages.

Educate your self and also spread the word.
