Have you just landed in an interview of a seemingly wonderful job? If answered yes, then what is your next step? You need to go through the entire interview successfully in order to lock in the offer. But are you ready for the interview? Do you have enough confidence that can guide you into giving the smartest answers to the questions asked by the panel interviewers? Nowadays most companies have started panel interviewing so that they can have eminent people from different departments test the IQ level of the interviewee at the same time. Usually, the interviewers are a mix of people from the HR department, the team leaders and sometimes the manager is also included in the process. Facing so many people in your first job interview can often become a nerve-wracking experience and therefore you have to be equipped with enough confidence in order to face them. Here are some tips that you should follow if you want to lock in your first interview.

  • Do your bit of homework: As an interviewee, your first job is to research about the company where you’ve applied and knowing the facts about the same. This step must always be taken whether you’re preparing yourself for a one-on-one interview or a panel interview. Organize worthy answers to the most common interview questions and also prepare some questions for the interviewer. Always take into account the different people who’ll be sitting in front of you.
  • Create a challenging first impression: Remember that your first impression is your last impression. Though it is true that building a personal rapport with each member of the panel is difficult enough, yet if you can start off with an excellent introduction, this can create a lasting impression on the panel members. Never hurry while doing handshakes as this implies that you’re nervous and lacking confidence. Practice being polite and show some calmness and poise in your nature.
  • Dress up appropriately: Whether you’re going to face a one-on-one interview or a panel interview, make sure you carry business attire as this will make you look smart and professional. The business attire will also show your seriousness to take on the job. Don’t wear too many accessories as this may spoil the professional look entirely.
  • Answer with enough confidence: While you prepare yourself for a panel interview, you should ensure that the answers that you give clearly imply your skills, intelligence and confidence. You should provide examples while speaking so that the panel members feel that you’re capable of fulfilling the requirement of the position that they’re hiring you for.

Preparing yourself for a job panel interview depends on a number of factors. Keep the above mentioned points in mind so that you can easily grab the job demonstrating your skills and confidence.
