Few Places to visit in Mumbai (Bombay)..

Gateway of India: The Gateway of India is a monument in Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India. Tourism in Mumbai is symbolized by the Gateway of India. The gateway of India can be called the symbol of Mumbai.  It is one of the main tourist attractions in Mumbai and thousands of tourists from all over the country and the world visit it every single day all through the year. This famous landmark will attract you like a magnet. There are steps in this monument which will lead you to the sea.  There are boat trips available from here for short trips to view the skyline of the city from the sea. Boat trips to visit Elephanta Caves also start from here. The Taj Mahal hotel is situated across the road from the Gateway of India which is very beautiful. Juhu Beach: Juhu Beach is one of the most beautiful places in Mumbai. A pleasant place to be, this suburban beach is a great favourite with Mumbaites, and has plenty to offer everyone. Juhu is a beach which is not for sunbathing or swimming. It is always pleasure to watch sun rise or sun set in Juhu. There are delicious snacks available at the various food stalls on the beach.  You can enjoy having some delicious Chaats, Bhel Puri or Pav Bhaji, the choice is ultimately yours!  The place has become so popular among the local as well as the international travellers that people love visiting this place again and again. Several luxurious hotels and restaurants have come up on the southern side of the beach. Juhu beach is clean, neat and comparatively well maintained beach. Your visit to Mumbai is incomplete if you don’t go to Juhu beach.

Essel World: It is a Theme Park. The rides and the attractions are without a doubt a great way to spend a day out. The list of rides available at Essel World in Mumbai is huge and there will be a ride to suit you or your family. Water Kingdom has several food kiosks and Mc Donald Family Restaurant for a complete family outing.

Haji Ali: The dargah is placed in the waters of the Worli bay. The Haji Ali Dargah, located in a small island in the big island city of Mumbai is the most popular tourist destination and more importantly a pilgrim site for people from all over the country and abroad. There is a walkway, which connects the sandy shore to the holy shrine. The mosque can be reached only during low tide. The whitewashed mosque also has a cool courtyard generally full of people and refreshment stalls. The rocks exposed during low tide at the rare end of the mosque are a favourable spot to catch some cool sea breeze. The doorway to the dargah also has many wonderful carvings.  The Haji Ali Dargah does not discriminate between any religion and caste. Thus in spite of it being a Muslim shrine, people of all beliefs, religions and coming from all strata of society are found here. It is the faith of these people that bring them here.

Hanging Garden: It is a popular tourist destination. The main attraction regarding this garden is that offers a lovely view of the sunset. Another interesting feature comprises of its several hedges that have been fashioned into different shapes of animals. This place has become a heaven for dating couples nevertheless the place provides a good view of the city. This garden is a nice place to go for a stroll in the morning or evening, when soothing breeze cuddles everyone in its gentleness. Hanging Gardens is certainly a beautiful park, where one can spend time in quietude and calmness, away from the crowded city. From the park one can have the best possible views of the Marine drive and the Chowpatty beach.

Marine Drive: One such famous tourist attraction in Mumbai is the Marine Drive, a popular promenade of the city. Marine drive is another important tourist attraction in Mumbai in Maharashtra in India. It is also referred to as the Queen’s Necklace when it is lit by the street lamps at night. Also, Marine Drive is home to many celebrities, mostly bollywood stars. Many hotels dot the drive, most prominent among them being the 5-star Oberoi (formerly the Oberoi Hilton Tower however reverted to the original name as of early 2008), The Intercontinental, Hotel Marine Plaza and a few other smaller hotels. Marine Drive is the preferred connecting road between the central business district located at Nariman Point and the rest of the city. It is also the world’s largest viewing gallery.

Prince of Wales Museum: The Prince of Wales Museum in Mumbai, Maharashtra is quite a popular attraction and a must visit. Located near the Gateway of India, the Museum is one of the important Maharashtra Tourist Attractions which must be visited to have a detailed insight about the western and Indus civilization. With varying exhibits and collection of precious items from different periods, the Prince of Wales Museum in Mumbai, Maharashtra is not alone a sightseeing spot but also serves an important cultural and educational centre.
